MATCH REPORT
Singles Final - 5th June 2010 18.00
Peter Morton vs Luke Taylor
The match started with energy, long rallies and depth from both players, which set the fast pace for the whole match. Serve changed hands frequently in the first game and the score remained close as they each found their rhythm. Peter dominated the T and made Luke cover all four corners of the court throughout the game. A long rally of backhand drives ended with a cracking low cross-court drive from Luke which passed Peter to end the first game 9-6.
Luke's reactions were tested at the start of the second as Peter volleyed well from the front. A change of tack saw Luke dominate the T and make Peter cover the court. It was exhausting to watch as both Peter and Luke dug out un-gettable shots and the long rallies tested their stamina. Luke took a run of 7 points to take the game 9-1 but the score suggests a quick and easy win, which it certainly wasn't.
Peter came out fighting at the start of the third but couldn't stop Luke taking a healthy 7-2 lead. Peter stalled Luke's run of points as he battled for the title he has held for 12 years. Luke eventually broke the deadlock with some stunning squash, which forced errors from Peter. Two more punishing rallies tested the crowd's nerves and Peter's reactions but Luke was on the end of every ball and took the third game and the match 9-2.

Doubles Final - 5th June 2010 16.30
Tim Cox and Nick Search vs Phil Burton and Alan Rutland
The match started with good reactions and tight shots from all four players, so that neither team could get a healthy lead on the other. Phil and Alan had game ball at 14-12 but some calm composure from their opponents forced a 14-14 Set 3 battle. Tim and
Nick covered the court, and eachother, well to take it 3-0.
Tim and Nick dominated in the second game to lead 7-3 but Phil and Alan forced errors and brought the deficit back to trail by only 2 points at 7-9. Tim and Nick responded with strength and consistency to take the game 15-9.
In the third it looked like Tim and Nick were finding their pace and took an early lead. Their opponents had changed tactics with Phil joining Tim on the forehand side. This troubled the leaders and, together with some magic shots from Phil, kept the pressure on. A punishing 20-plus shot rally tested both sides, which Phil and Alan won to serve from 5-11 behind. However, they couldn't stage the heroic comeback they were after, and despite a squash-ball sized welt on Tim's calf, he and Nick took the game and the match 15-11.
