STSC Club tennis tournament
25th August to 28th september 2024
Finals Day 28th September
We hope to restore this year’s Club Members’ tournament to its rightful pre-eminent place in the club’s activities. There will be a number of changes as detailed below. We hope that these will increase the entry numbers and the level of interest in the event.
- The tournament will run from Sunday 25th August until Finals Day on Saturday 28th September
- There will be presentations on Finals Day, hopefully by the Club President and Chair. These will be part of a social event in the evening of the 28th.
- On entering, players will be asked to give a maximum of five dates/times when they are unable to play
- After the draw the tournament organisers will specify days and times for matches to be played in the hopes that members will come to watch/support
- Where possible, the Bar will be open
- Orders of Play will be published on the website and on noticeboards
- Matches will be conceded if the player is unable to play at a time which they had not stated to be impossible
- Normally several matches to be scheduled in the same session. Sundays will be used heavily and team captains will be asked to avoid arranging home matches
- No matches will be scheduled for 6th-8th Sept as we hope both our teams will be involved in the National Team Tennis finals at Bournemouth that weekend
Cost
Players will be asked to pay a £5 entry to enter a maximum of three events. These fees will cover the cost of the good quality balls which will be provided for each match and the cost of floodlights when necessary.

All singles events will be seeded according to WTN numbers. Doubles will also be seeded but according to past results and known form. Events will be run on TTP (Tennis Tournament Planner).
Entries wil and can be made either online or on the clubhouse notice board which will be updated on a regular basis. Players who wish to compete in doubles events will be encuraged to make a partner wanted entry. The organisers will then try to pair up players of similar ability. Entries will close on 9th August so that scheduling can be done and published on the weekend of 10th/11th.
