LTA Youth Leaders course

Saturday 9th July at sutton tennis & squash club

LTA Youth Tennis Leaders is our exciting leadership programme for young people aged 11 to 18, although the course below wil be for ages 14-18. The programme provides young people, whatever their tennis ability, with the opportunity to gain invaluable leadership skills both on and off court.

What is a tennis leader?

Tennis leaders support coaches, volunteers and teachers to deliver tennis sessions on court, and support the running of a venue or event. They are a role model to younger players, members and school children, and inspire others to play. Off-court, they help volunteers, teachers and club management committees to make sure tennis is relevant, accessible, rewarding and enjoyable.

The programme is an excellent way of helping young people into leadership opportunities across tennis, sport and beyond, whatever their interests.

Becoming a tennis leader

Tennis Leaders is suitable for juniors whatever their relationship with tennis – from those brand new to the sport through to those playing regularly.

You will gain invaluable skills and experience that you can use throughout your life – whether in tennis or sport, or outside it. Upon completion of the course you will receive:

  • A branded LTA Youth Tennis Leaders t-shirt.
  • A certificate for each module you complete.
  • A workbook to refer back to

What are the benefits to young people?

Young people who have completed a Tennis Leaders course have said the benefits go beyond tennis into other sports and life skills, and many have gone on to enjoy careers in tennis or sport. Parents have fed back that their teenage children have grown in confidence, made friends, found their voice, discovered a love of helping others to learn and continued to enjoy membership at a tennis club because of their newfound purpose and challenge. The benefits are huge!

Here at Sutton Tennis & Squash Club, there is also the opportunity of paid work, helping us with our junior coaching programme and tennis camps.

What are the learning modules?

To become a tennis leader, pupils need to complete a minimum of the core and one elective learning module.
