Boadicea British Tour 2023, Chair's Message

Dear Members, friends & visitors,
Sutton Tennis & Squash Club are delighted to announce that Boadicea the Victorious will,
for the 8th consecutive year be our lead sponsor for the largest British Tour Event in the
UK. David Crisp, the Chief Executive of Boadicea is an outstanding example of an individual
who generously supports ‘grass roots’ Tennis.
During his tenure, the list of players who have developed onto the world stage include Joe
Salisbury (currently world No 1 doubles), Harriet Dart, Dan Evans, Liam Broady, Alastair
Gray, Tara Moore, Marcus Willis, while a host of other top-quality players play full time on
the ITF & WTA circuits.
This year’s tournament will run from Sunday 13th August – Saturday 19th August and once
again has attracted record entries in all events – entries for the Men’s and Ladies Singles
have reached 227, and the doubles events entries have surpassed all expectations.
Alongside our British Tour, we will once again host a Grade 3 Junior Tournament, where
entries have reached 200. All events will be managed by Tim Pearce & Alison Batista and will
start from 9am each morning, running through to 10pm each night. We are delighted to
again receive the support of Sutton Highfields LTC in using their court facilities. It is
incredibly helpful.
Catering & Bar Facilities will be available through the day & evening with last food orders
being taken at 9pm. A ‘Finals Day’ lunch will be available to members at a cost to be
confirmed.
Please be aware of local parking regulations and see this page for useful guidance on
parking.
Courts will fall under the control of Tim Pearce, Tournament Referee who is very
cooperative in ensuring court availability for members when he can. It is hoped that there
will be scope for members play on courts 7,8 & 9 during the day.
On behalf the Management Committee, I would like to express sincere thanks to our
sponsors, members, and last but certainly not least the Tournament Committee of Peter
Ward, Jason Smythe, Chris Pike, Kerry Hill, and again led/cajoled by our own ‘Mr Motivator,’
Steve Tiddy, for their work to deliver what promises to be another great British Tour week at
STSC.
