Club Tennis Champs update

Many thanks for your entries in the club tournaments. We are pleased to say that all events have sufficient entries to be viable- with the sole exception of the Vet Mixed. This is the first time in some years that we are going to be able to run Ladies Singles and Ladies Doubles events.

We do currently have a small number of good men players who require partners in the Open Mixed and Open Mens Doubles events. If you are not currently playing in 3 events and would like to be ‘paired’,please email Terry Oakes at telstar771@aol.com today or tomorrow. Entries close at 11.59 pm on Friday.

As you know this year, as a change, your match times will be organised for you. Our hope is to play the majority of matches on Sundays between 25th August and 22nd September (but not on 8th September).

A reminder that finals will be played on Saturday 28th September. Some matches will be scheduled for August Bank Holiday Monday (26th August) plus occasional weekday evenings. Playing a number of matches on the same day will hopefully create more of an ‘event’ feeling.

Singles events will be seeded according to World Tennis Numbers and will have staggered draws . Results will be submitted to the LTA and count towards your WTN’s. Doubles events will either be open draws or seeded according to known form. Events with smaller numbers of entries will be run as round robins. Details will be sent out early next week.

Some of you have already sent details of the 5 dates when you will not be available. It is VERY important that everyone gives us this information before the end of this Saturday 10th August, by emailing telstar771@aol.com. If you don’t do so then the event will be disrupted as, if you are given a date to play and cannot do so, then you are liable to be scratched-which is obviously something that we don’t want to have happen.

Most of you have already paid your £5 entry fee. If you haven’t done this please do so at the bar.

Thank you for your attention to this message.

Best Regards
Jools Freeman and Terry Oakes
